Description

Recorded in the band’s rehearsal space as a test for the indie film Better Day. The director wanted to shoot a key scene in the film as a continuous one-take. He also wanted the music heard in the scene to be the actors’ actual live performance during the take – no playback. This meant all microphones, except the vocal mic, had to remain out of frame, and the band had to monitor through speakers instead of headphones. As a result, we had to make compromises like: replacing drum overheads with lavaliers on the cymbal stands, recording guitars and bass via DI only, and accepting a lot of extra bleed. This live session was to test if we could capture what we wanted within those limitations.
