Haderslev Båndorkerster (Haderslev Tape Orchestra) was born by me and a group of four fellow students at Sonic College, Haderslev in late 2019. We shared a love for tape recorders of all kinds, especially how they alter the sound in pleasing and unpredictable ways when pushed to their limits.

One evening we decided to show up at a local open stage event with each our tape recorders and selection of pre-recorded tapes. We hadn’t talked about what material to bring, not even a musical key to adhere to. We just put in our tapes, pressed play and started manipulating the tape, faders and electronics. It was a both thrilling and nerving experience to improvise within such constraints.

We would go on to perform at one other event before giving our final perfomance on a living room live stream during the first COVID lockdown. We had 3 concerts planned for March 2020, which were all cancelled due to the pandemic. That became the end of the project.
